On the concept

Why the theme: middle eastern garden wedding?

The obvious reason is that I am married to a middle eastern guy and want to pay tribute to their rich and lively culture. Before I even met him,  I was already fascinated by the marrakesh style. The timing is also right, since it is a trend now with ethnicisity in fashion and interior, and hence it will be easier to buy stuff for the wedding.

When it comes to the garden part, well first of all I am a true romantic, and garden is much more freespirited and I love the natural light, the blooms and the scent. Nothing beats the open air. This idea also came about in Nancy Ajram's (lebanese singer) music video which is a wedding in a garden with bellydancer and with all the splendors of the great outdoors.

The picture is props from our first wedding.

Why the color dark purple, dark red with gold accent (and other warm tones)?

Middle east is warm tones, deep and dark colors mainly. I have never considered to have any favorite color, but as of this moment purple is one color that strikes me. The dark hues will also serve as a nice contrast to the pure white attires we will be wearing. The dark colors also depicts sophistication and drama.

Trivia: purple is a mixture of red and blue, the warmest and coldest color respectively. Meaning variety and versatility. Being from 2 different cultures, religions and backgrounds , this is a perfect symbolic color for us.

General

Why two weddings?

Bizzi has plenty of family, friends and relatives in Norway, and the first celebration in fact had 500 guests. It was held Sept. 3, 2005, no wedding rites, just reception. Angie's parents was unfortunately not able to attend.

Angie wishes to celebrate with her familes and friends in her country, as she has spent half her high school days and college days in the Philippines.

Why no religious rituals?
The wedding is actually a celbration and not a wedding per se. We already had our civil rites and religious rites in Norway. Both are similar in setting. The religious rite was only the 2 of us and their mullah (priest) and the other one. The reception is considered the wedding proper to them which is held in a seperate date from the rites. Therefore we are just going to celbrate our unity this time.
